All: Head ... AND Heart?? whodathunkit

"I'm done with being embarrassed for America on an almost daily basis since the squandering of 9/11 world goodwill." - quoted from a comment by a Mary Eliz at the The Debate hosted by the Washington Post blog boards. Just had to share that one.

Looking at the news now, I'm reminded of an observation that Miles made some time back during the '04 elections. It's easy to get emotional and irrational about a situation, both of which can undermine a very valid argument and leave the debate spluttering no more effectively than "because it's the right thing to do" *stomp foot*. It's also easy to use overly rational cold logic to deny any argument whatsoever has validity, disdainfully denouncing the opponent's entire stance as nothing of genuine concern and therefore unworthy of serious consideration. It's rather like listening to a debate between the Heart and the Head when neither of them are really as interested in reaching a functional settlement as much as proving they are 100% correct. How ... sad.

IMHO - all things in moderation, nothing in excess. All head means no heart, and that's a terrible, cold, lonely, brutal place to be. All heart means no head, which is all impulse, poor planning, lack of foresight, reactionary, and being taken advantage of. It's only when the Head AND the Heart work together that Form meets Function.
